Experts in the Field: Hunting Dogs at Beretta Shooting Grounds
In the early hours of a crisp morning at the Beretta Shooting Grounds just north of Atlanta, wing shooters gather among the well-appointed trophy mounts inside a clubhouse sipping on the morning coffee. As dawn turns to morning light, the anticipation builds to the morning hunt. No matter how primed the group of shooters may be; rest assured they aren’t as excited to get out in the field as the stars of the day’s hunt: the well-trained gundogs of the Beretta Shooting Grounds by High Adventure Company. A mix of cocker spaniels and English setters work year-round with the expert trainers and guides to ensure a well-orchestrated hunt from the first dog to go on point to the last bird retrieved.
After a full or half day Georgia quail hunt, each dog deserves a well-earned rest. Rest assured, at the next day’s light the ears perk up and each spaniel and setter is ready to do it all again. After all, Georgia quail season is October through March, so there’s limited time to do what they love most.
Of course, wing shooters are welcome to hunt with their own dogs at the Beretta Shooting Grounds. Barnsley Resort is a pet friendly resort, with an array of cottage suites suited for quail hunters to travel with their favorite field companion.
