Meet the Executive Chef: Marc Suennemann
With an impressive background, Marc Suennemann is the Executive Chef at Barnsley Resort. Bringing 35 years of culinary talent and expertise to the role, his career began in Hamburg, Germany at the College of Gastronomy and Food. Since then, he’s had the rare opportunity to learn firsthand the rich culinary landscapes of Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Spain which has profoundly shaped his approach to cooking and fueled his passion for creating exceptional dishes.
His personal background gives him the ideal perspective to oversee the all-new Biergarten that opened in late 2024 offering a menu of classic German favorites alongside Southern barbecue slow-smoked over the custom-built J & R Smoker.
In addition to Barnsley Resort restaurants, Chef Suennemann oversees catering menus for luxury weddings at the Georgia wedding venue including outdoor receptions at the Manor House Ruins and ballroom events in the Georgian Hall. For corporate events, creative team-building events and memorable experiences such as Sea Island Forge Fire Kettle Cooking Classes, BR Coppertop Pizza Co. dinners and more enhance meetings and incentive programs.
