Explore Our Great Outdoors

Barnsley Resort is surrounded by the North Georgia foothills, 3,000 inspiring acres that encourage you to slow down and take a pause. We nurture deep connections with nature and offer you a number of outdoor activities to do so, from a joyful bike ride on a trail to a relaxing boat ride on the lake.

The Outpost Experience Center is the resort retail shop but it’s also where you can connect to various activities and sign out equipment, from games and canoes to bikes and fishing rods. We give you the time, beautiful spaces and experiences to set your life alight and this is your starting point.

Fun for Families

Barnsley Farm

Visiting the miniature horses and entertaining goats at Barnsley Farm is the delight of our youngest guests, but it is a resort favorite regardless of age. While you’re there, inquire about another fun kids’ activity, Corral Rides. Located below the historic ruins, the farm is open daily 8:30a.m.–4:30p.m.

Hiking & FIT Trail

For a leisurely stroll or a heart-pumping hike, our more than 10 miles of picturesque hiking trails offer varying levels of difficulty. For a more vigorous challenge, try our 1.8-mile, 20-station FIT Trail or climb to the Overlook vantage point and reward yourself with serene views.

Biking

Barnsley Resort's rolling landscape is ideal to explore on two wheels. Borrow a bicycle (and helmet) for a scenic cruise around the resort village, along peaceful ponds and over wooden bridges and walkways. Available on a first-come, first-served basis for two hours.

Lawn Games

In addition to the fire pits around our pedestrian village, you’ll also discover a collection of outdoor games. Challenge friends to a round of cornhole or bocce ball. Check out equipment such as beanbags, bocce balls and other equipment and let the games begin!
On the Water

Canoeing, Kayaking & Fishing

Set out for a peaceful afternoon on our serene 10-acre lake. Explore by canoe, glide along in a kayak or try your hand at catch-and-release fishing in one of our well-stocked ponds. Complimentary canoes, kayaks, paddles, life jackets and spin-casting fishing rods are available for resort guests.

Disc Golf

Looking for a fun and active way to explore our beautiful grounds? A nine-hole disc golf course meanders through our historic gardens and meadows and is a unique way for guests of all ages to discover the resort. Visit the Outpost for maps and to check out discs.

Pickleball

The sport taking the world by storm is now available at Barnsley Resort. Our new pickleball courts are surrounded by the lush North Georgia foothills, for a rousing and inspiring match. The perfect vacation activity for guests of all ages.
